Today I took the D1h and 70-300VR I borrowed from The Exponent for a bit of a test drive. I figure I should probably find out how to work the camera before I have to shoot Grand Prix trials tomorrow afternoon. The first two are from the weekend, I was actually walking to the news room and saw this cardinal perching in a tree about 20 feet from me, so I had to take a few frames - I don't think he is a fan of photographers (hence the posture).
Any way, back to the topic at hand. I love the feel of the D1h - especially with the verical grip - it makes steadying the camera so much easier when shooting vertically. Plus the frame rate; Oh God the frame rate - love it. Granted the D1h doesnt make the largest images (only 2.7MP) but IMO they still turn out great.
I was mad that I missed a shot today though. As I was walking to Horticulture Park this afternoon I spotted the Cooper's Hawk I've been trying to capture for 3 weeks now flying above the IM fields. I opened my bag, grabbed the D1h and 70-300VR and by the time I got the lens on the body, the damn thing was gone - no where to bee seen... ugh...
